The Major and Planned Giving & Gift Planning teams work to build and sustain meaningful and fulfilling philanthropic relationships between Amherst College and its alumni, families and friends.
Philanthropic support—in the form of unrestricted gifts, foundation and corporate grants, and returns on the College’s endowment—accounts for nearly half of Amherst’s annual budget. These resources are essential to support the College’s ongoing operation and further its educational mission. Leadership Giving and Gift Planning work closely with the offices of the president, treasurer, dean of faculty, dean of admission and others to define institutional priorities and identify specific needs. In turn, these teams present fundraising initiatives as giving opportunities to prospective donors through a variety of channels.
