Funding Eligibility
Very generally, anyone who wishes to plan or host an event that is open to all Amherst College students and abides by the committee's funding policies is eligible for funding. This usually falls within three categories:
Individual Students and Student Groups
Students do not have to be a member of a club to get funding from the Discretionary Fund. In the past, we have had groups of students, unaffiliated with any club, come to BC meetings to secure funding to attend a healthcare conference and to see the Dalai Lama speak in Boston.
Clubs without Club Budgets
Clubs without a club budget can and should come to the BC's weekly discreionary meetings to secure funding for events; after all, it is one of the ways that the BC determines whether or not to award a club with a club budget.
Clubs with Club Budgets
Even though a club may have a club budget, it can still come to the BC's weekly discreionary meetings to request additional funding, either because they did not request enough money in their club budget or because they require extra funds to put on another event.
